The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an integral part of the Warren Waterfront Historical District. Warren’s craftsmen constructed the Federal-style building with oak timbers from ships sunk across Newport Harbor in 1770’s. The fresco murals located on the second-floor were selected from the works of “Book of the Dead” and “Papyrus of Ani”. Max Muller, a member of the Lodge and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design at that time, was the artist who handpainted the murals in 1915.
