Plumbing the Depths: Forging Workshop at Coggeshall Farm Museum

June 22, 2019 | 11am – 5pm | Coggeshall Farm Museum | 1 Colt Drive, Bristol, RI 02809

Join local Bristol artist, Kendall Reiss as she works to forge a set of hammers on the antique forging set up in the blacksmith shop at Coggeshall Farm Museum, as the final component of her ongoing project, Plumbing the Depths. The hammers will be used as strikers for a number of bronze bells that Reiss will install permanently into the landscape at Coggeshall Farm Museum in early June 2019. Visitors who come to Coggeshall for this day-long workshop will be given a small booklet for recording their observations, as a way to inspire close looking through investigation, to make connections between the historic and contemporary use of tools, and to compare and question the value of functional objects.

This workshop is supported by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

Workshop is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
